29 Mar SOFC completes fitout of Warakirri College’s Science Lab and Food and Technology Room | Sydney Fitouts
SOFC Fitouts believes that education is of huge importance to both our young people, and to our Australian identity. And we love getting the chance to contribute to projects involving the education sector, from tertiary all the way to post-secondary establishments. So it was with a fair bit of happiness that we embarked on a project with Warakirri College, to improve their services and their scope, and to ensure that our leaders of tomorrow have a world-class spot to engage in learning.
This college, located in Blacktown, is an initiative aimed at high schoolers, which came about through MTC Australia. It offers educational support to students engaged in studying Year 10 and HSC, and they were looking for a provider to improve their on-site facilities.
Theirs was a particular request. SOFC was engaged to convert their teaching space into a science lab and food and technology room, for the application of particular subjects and for teaching specific procedures requiring a controlled environment. Along with changes to the layout, it also involved custom manufacturer of fixtures and other elements unique to this facility.
Another parameter to the project was its time frames. In order to properly fulfil the needs of this client, SOFC was obliged to fit our work schedule into four weeks, in between two separate holiday terms. This tight scheduling was accomplished by juggling our resources in such a way that concentrated our workforce’s availability, along with ensuring our preparations were completed in advance, so that we could hit the ground running as soon as the term finished. In due course, the project was wrapped up on-time and within budget, in time for the next term to begin.
Grand Opening of the New Science Lab
With the completion of all work onsite, much of our project team was able to attend the Grand Opening of the new lab. With the Honourable Mark Taylor MP in attendance, along with Blacktown Mayor Stephan Bali MP, and Councillor Reena Jethi from the Hills Shire Council, a festive atmosphere greeted this facility as it began its new life.
As always, we look forward to providing our services to the education sector, and to shaping young minds on their journey to adulthood. It is our hope that this new science lab facility will provide the means to do exactly that in the years to come.
